All Ages Welcome at Young Professionals Summit Luncheon
Published: 1/28/2010
Blake Mycoskie, founder and chief shoe giver, TOMS Shoes, Inc., will be the keynote luncheon speaker at the 2010 Young Professionals Summit on March 4, at Qwest Center Omaha. Community members of all ages are welcome to register for the 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. luncheon. Cost to attend is $75 per person.
Embodying the entrepreneurial spirit of a new generation, Mycoskie has created five businesses since college. Former president Bill Clinton called Mycoskie, "One of the most interesting entrepreneurs (I've) ever met."
He founded TOMS Shoes, Inc. in 2006. TOMS' simple promise to give a pair of new shoes to children in need around the world with every pair sold is revolutionizing the way consumers shop. The One for One business model has encouraged conscientious consumers to purchase and give more than 400,000 pairs of new shoes to children in need through its giving partners in just three years.
Mycoskie, who is 33 years old and lives on a sailboat in Los Angeles, has been featured in a major national AT&T ad campaign early last year.
Tickets are also available for $125 to attend the entire Summit. The 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Summit will provide a forum where diverse young professionals can be heard, discover ways to impact the community and help develop leadership skills so they can contribute to Greater Omaha's growth. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions and interactive discovery activities. Summit tickets include the keynote luncheon.
